About the Institute
The WiFi Quality Institute develops and stewards the WiFi Quality Body of Knowledge: a coordinated set of conceptual, normative and methodological publications for understanding and assessing WiFi Quality in real-world environments.
Body of Knowledge Stewardship
We develop and maintain the conceptual foundations, terminology, governing principles and methodological structure of WiFi Quality.
Methodological Development
We develop evidence-based approaches for representative real-world assessment, contextual interpretation, Evidence Correlation and transparent scoring methodology.
Vendor-Neutral Governance
The Institute's methodological work is designed to remain independent of specific hardware vendors, software platforms, network operators and implementation-specific commercial decisions.

The WiFi Quality Institute is dedicated to advancing WiFi Quality as a rigorous, evidence-based field of knowledge and practice.
Wireless connectivity has become a foundational layer of modern digital infrastructure. In homes, workplaces, hospitality venues, public spaces, education, healthcare and transportation systems, WiFi supports everyday communication, business operations and digital services.
Despite this reliance, WiFi is still frequently judged using isolated indicators such as signal strength or a single speed test. Those observations may be useful, but they do not by themselves establish the real quality of the service delivered across a venue, over time and under representative conditions.
The Institute addresses this gap through conceptual development, methodological research, publication and governance of a coherent WiFi Quality Body of Knowledge.
Why the Institute Exists
Real-world WiFi Quality emerges from interactions between radio conditions, client behaviour, network configuration, shared-medium contention, local infrastructure, Internet dependencies, mobility, time and the context in which users actually consume the service.
No single metric can reliably represent all of those conditions. A network can produce a strong signal or a high peak throughput result while still delivering inconsistent, unstable or contextually inadequate service.
The Institute exists to provide a disciplined way to observe, measure, correlate and interpret this evidence without reducing WiFi Quality to one metric, one tool or one vendor's implementation.
What We Do
Foundational Publications
We publish the conceptual and normative foundations of WiFi Quality through the Doctrine, Framework and Principles.
Assessment Methodology
We develop technical guidance for representative evidence collection, measurement integrity, contextual interpretation, Observed Network Reality and quantitative representation of assessed quality.
Research & Knowledge Dissemination
We publish technical reports, position papers and explanatory materials for engineers, researchers, assessors, operators and other professionals working with real-world WiFi environments.

Establishing conditions under which measurement evidence is sufficiently reliable, traceable and interpretable for assessment use.

Defining how locations, times, service areas, device contexts and operating conditions should be represented in real-world assessment.
Contextual Interpretation
Interpreting technical evidence in relation to the venue, intended service, operational conditions and realistic user expectations.
Evidence Correlation
Correlating multiple evidence types to reconstruct Observed Network Reality and distinguish symptoms from plausible causes and dependencies.
Scoring & Communication
Developing transparent requirements for quantitative representation and clear communication of assessment outcomes without collapsing the underlying evidence into an unexplained number.
Institutional Role
The WiFi Quality Institute provides conceptual, methodological and publication governance for the WiFi Quality Body of Knowledge.
Its work is vendor-neutral and does not endorse specific hardware platforms, software products, Internet service providers or commercial network services.
The Institute's methodological role is distinct from implementation-specific operational certification activities. A certification programme may apply WQI concepts or methodology, but certification eligibility, commercial workflow and award decisions are separate from the WQI Body of Knowledge itself.
