The WiFi Quality Body of Knowledge brings together the conceptual foundations, governing principles, assessment methodology and technical guidance developed by the WiFi Quality Institute. It provides a coherent foundation for understanding, assessing and communicating WiFi Quality in real-world environments.
What Is the WiFi Quality Body of Knowledge?
The Body of Knowledge is the coordinated set of WQI publications that defines the concepts, terminology, principles and methodological requirements used to reason about WiFi Quality. It is not a single test, a single score or a single certification specification.
Purpose
Its purpose is to provide a stable and traceable intellectual foundation for real-world WiFi Quality assessment: what is being assessed, which evidence is relevant, how observations and measurements are interpreted, how context is represented and how conclusions can be communicated consistently.
Scope
The Body of Knowledge extends beyond isolated radio or Internet performance measurements. It addresses WiFi Quality as a multi-dimensional real-world condition that must be interpreted through representative evidence, context and relationships between technical, operational and human perspectives.
Structure of the Body of Knowledge
Each core publication has a distinct role. Together they form a layered structure from conceptual foundations to practical assessment and quantitative interpretation.
The WiFi Quality Doctrine
Establishes the conceptual, philosophical and institutional foundations of WiFi Quality as an emerging discipline and provides the overarching rationale for the WQI knowledge structure.
The WiFi Quality Framework
Defines the conceptual architecture and taxonomy of WiFi Quality through Domains, Dimensions, Attributes and the relationships that organise technical, operational and human perspectives.
The WiFi Quality Principles
Establishes the six governing Principles — Objectivity, Independence, Transparency, Relevance, Contextuality and Integrity — that form the normative foundation for WiFi Quality activities.
Methodology for Real-World WiFi Quality Assessment
Defines how WiFi Quality is assessed in practice through representative observations and measurements, contextual interpretation, Evidence Correlation and reconstruction of Observed Network Reality.
WiFi Quality Scoring Architecture
Defines methodological requirements for constructing, interpreting, validating and governing WiFi Quality Scores while preserving the distinction between assessment evidence, quantitative scoring and certification decisions.
How the Layers Relate
Conceptual foundation
The Doctrine explains why WiFi Quality requires a distinct disciplinary approach. The Framework then defines the architecture through which the subject is organised.
Normative foundation
The Principles establish the values that govern observation, evidence handling, assessment, interpretation, governance and communication.
Methodological implementation
The Methodology translates the conceptual and normative foundations into a repeatable real-world assessment process, while the Scoring Architecture governs quantitative representation of assessed quality.
