The WiFi Quality Framework defines the conceptual architecture of WiFi Quality as an emerging discipline. Building upon the WiFi Quality Doctrine, it establishes the taxonomy, terminology and relationships through which WiFi Quality can be described and organised consistently.
The Framework introduces a hierarchical taxonomy composed of Domains, Dimensions and Attributes. It defines three complementary Domains — Technical, Operational and Human — and identifies the Dimensions through which each perspective contributes to the overall capability of a WiFi environment to fulfil its intended purpose within a defined Operational Context.
It also distinguishes WiFi Performance, WiFi Experience, WiFi Quality and WiFi Quality Assessment as separate conceptual levels; explains the interdependencies among the Domains; and establishes the boundaries separating WiFi Quality from related but non-equivalent concepts. Assessment procedures, measurements, scoring methods and certification requirements remain outside the scope of this Framework and are addressed separately by the forthcoming WiFi Quality Methodology.
The Framework is organised into four parts, progressing from the conceptual foundations of WiFi Quality to its architecture, Domains, relationships and boundaries.
The distinction between WiFi Performance, WiFi Experience and WiFi Quality, together with the Four-Level Conceptual Model that separates the properties of a WiFi environment from the process used to assess them.
The hierarchical taxonomy of Domain, Dimension and Attribute, and the principles of Unique Classification, Collective Exhaustiveness, Mutual Exclusivity, Stability, Extensibility and Technology Independence.
The Technical, Operational and Human Domains, including the Dimensions of Coverage, Capacity, Security, Availability, Reliability, Consistency, Responsiveness, Resilience, WiFi Experience and Fitness for Purpose.
The interdependencies among the Domains, the role of Operational Context, and the conceptual boundaries separating WiFi Performance, WiFi Experience, WiFi Quality and WiFi Quality Assessment.
